Cuban Health Minister Meets Indian Businessmen

New Delhi, Dec 8 .- Cuban Health Minister, Roberto Morales, has held a meeting in this capital with Indian representatives and businessmen from the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industries to exchange experiences and discuss cooperation issues.

Addressing attendees at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Morales highlighted the Caribbean island’s achievements in health.

He stressed that both nations have broad potential to increase cooperation on this field.

Vice President of BioCubaFarma, Mayda Mauri, spoke about progress of the biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry in her country.

As an example, she cited some internationally recognized medicines, among them the Herberprot-P, the only drug of its kind in the world to treat the diabetic foot and substantially reduces diabetes-related amputations.

The specialist highlighted the quality, effectiveness and competitiveness of the Cuban products.

During the exchange, several entrepreneurs and representatives of Indian firms were interested in many projects.

Later, the Cuban Minister and the delegation that accompanied him visited the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences and the National Institute of Ayurveda.

Morales and his Indian peer, J.P. Nadda, signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral ties on health.(Prensa Latina)
