Cuba Rejects Interference from Spanish Foreign Minister

Cuba Rejects Interference from Spanish Foreign Minister Havana, May 7. – Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Dagoberto Rodriguez, today described as interventionist, disrespectful, and even naive, the recent comments made by Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo.

"He should remember that Cuba is no longer a colony of his country, or of any other, and focus more on the deep economic and social situation in Spain and the enormous discontent that exists in this society, where almost 40 percent of young people are unemployed", Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said that it would be of interest to the public opinion whether Garcia-Margallo has received any verbal or official invitation to visit Cuba, or if he thinks that he does not need an invitation.

In Cuba, no one has invited him, Rodriguez said, referring to recent statements published by the Spanish newspaper ABC, in which the Foreign Minister of Spain said that any eventual trip to Cuba is conditional on the opportunity to meet with groups of counterrevolutionaries here.(Prensa Latina)
