Tribute to Cuban National Hero in Guatemala

Guatemala, Jan 21. -A week in tribute to Cuban National Hero José Martí will be held to mark the 159th anniversary of his birth, announced Cuban Ambassador to Guatemala Roberto Blanco.At a press conference, Blanco provided details of the activities scheduled for Jan. 23-28 in what he described as a very appropriate country to honor the hero.

On Monday, the activities begin with the laying of a wreath at the bust of Martí located in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Students of the Republic of Cuba school will participate. This school is sponsored by the Embassy of Havana, and Cuban workers and collaborators will also go there on Wednesday to pay tribute to the hero.

Cultural personalities and Guatemalan researchers of the life and work of Jose Marti will participate, as well as those people interested in his life.

On Saturday, a wreath will be laid at the public bust of Marti in this city and the closing ceremony of the event will be held at the Museum of History.

Also on Saturday, coinciding with the anniversary of Marti's birth, the brigade of Cuban doctors cooperating in Guatemala will present their scientific conference dedicated to their National Hero. (Prensa Latina)
