Horns to Havana Wraps Up Visit to Cuba

Havana, Sep 12. -Members of "Horns to Havana," a project of U.S. musicians who donated instruments to Cuban music students, returned home on Sunday, sources at the Melia Cohiba Hotel confirmed to Prensa Latina.The 17 musicians and luthiers arrived in Cuba on Tuesday with donated instruments for four complete jazz orchestras at four Cuban music schools, gave master conferences and workshops, and repaired more than 70 instruments.

The group included seven musicians from the Jazz at Licoln Center Orchestra, including bassist and composer Carlos Henriquez and drummer Ali Jackson.

The latter first came to Cuba in October 2010 together with orchestra director and celebrated jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, and were impressed with the number of children and youth studying at Cuban arts schools. (Prensa Latina)
