Chile: Volcano Forces Larger EvacuationSantiago de Chile, Jun 6. -The Chilean government decided to enlarge its evacuation of towns near the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano complex after detecting a belt of lava in the last few hours.

The news was confirmed by Under Secretary of the Interior Rodrigo Ubilla, who provided details on the rapid evacuation in the Riñinahue area of Los Rios.

Authorities in southern Chile said the belt of lava could be a new crater that is opening.

Monday reports also confirmed that clouds of ash were moving from Argentine Patagonia to Chile soil due to changes in wind direction.

Chile has evacuated 3,500 people living near the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle Volcanic Complex after a series of quakes warned of the volcanoâ�Ös imminent eruption, which finally took place last Saturday.

The Puyehue-Cordón Caulle Volcanic Complex is located in the Andes, 950 kilometers south from the capital city. (Prensa Latina)
