Cuba Wins 13 Medals in Pan Am Judo CupQuito, Mar 7. -Cuba took five gold medals three silver and five bronze medals in the 2011 Pan American Judo Cup in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Cuban Dayaris Mestre (48kg) was the last competitor to win a gold medal for the Cuban team last Saturday.

Yalennis Castillo (78kg), Idalis Ortiz (+78kg), Asley Gonzalez (90kg) and Oreidis Despaigne (100kg) won the gold medals on Friday.

Cubans Yanet Bermoy (52kg) and Ronald Girones (73kg), took the silver medals as well as Onix Cortes (70kg).

Yaritza Abel (63kg), Angelo Gomez (66kg) and Antonio Betancourt (60kg), took their bronze medals last Saturday, while Osmay Cruz (81kg) and Oscar Braison (+100kg) did it this Sunday.

Yurisleidis Lupetey (57kg) was the only one from Cuba that could not reach a medal.

170 judokas from 22 countries attended this Pan American Cup to get points for their qualification to the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico to be held next October.

Cuban national team will participate in the Pan American Championship next April 1 and 2 . (Prensa Latina)
