National Culture Day to honor the Five

Santa Cruz del Sur, Oct 12. – Next October 20th people from Santa Cruz del Sur will dedicate the celebrations for the National Culture Day to the return of the Five Heroes, unfairly imprisoned in the United States, to Nicolás Guillén, Poet of the Revolution, and to the Local Concert Band, for being one of the oldest bands in the country.

The activities to mark that day, which treasures one of the most significant events of the homeland, will be carried out by a large amateur art fans group, followers of the creative world, and will be spread all over the various recreation institutions of the territory in order to remember that our national anthem (Himno de Bayamo) was firstly sang on that date.

The Local Concert Band will perform songs of cultural identity in Cuba and it will do it in several schools of the territory, under the direction of the Master David Entenza. (Yamilé Agrenot Castillo/ Radio Santa Cruz)
