UNASUR Agrees to Validate University Degrees

vQuito, Sept 17. -The 12 member countries of the Union of South American Nations agreed to mutually recognize each country's university degrees to promote the quality of education.

The information was released by Ecuadorian Minister Rene Ramirez, president of the South American Council on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Innovation, who stated that the accreditation processes would be strengthened.

After the approval of this agreement, university graduates from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela will be able to validate their degrees in any country of the regional bloc.

In the cultural sector, it was proposed to create a Cultural Rights regional program, a Bicentenary Collection publishing program, and other initiatives.

These actions will make it possible the development of the social memory and the region's material and abstract heritage through acknowledgement of the origins and common bonds of the South American countries. (Prensa Latina)
