Vietnamese Parliament Leader in CubaHavana, Sep 6. -Vietnam National Assembly President Nguyen Phu Trong began an official and friendly visit to Cuba on Sunday, and said it was an honor to visit the homeland of national hero Jose Marti and leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro.

"For us, this country and Fidel Castro embody revolutionary heroism, rebelliousness, confidence in victory. I'm sure this visit will stregthen the transparent and special relations between our peoples," assured the Vietnamese official.

Phu Trong was welcomed by Ricardo Alarcon, president of the National Assembly of People's Power; Ramon Pez Ferro, leader of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Commission; and Yolanda Ferrer, general secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women.

The visit coincides with celebrations for the 65th anniversary of Vietnamese independence and the 50th of Cuban-Vietnamese diplomatic ties. (Prensa Latina)
