Havana, Jun 5 .- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel received US Senator Jeff Flake and Google’s CEO Eric Emerson Schmidt, with whom he talked about potential cooperation areas.

 

During the meeting, they also discussed the state of bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States.

The meeting was also attended by the Charge d’Affaires of the United States in Cuba, Philip Goldberg, and on the Cuban side by the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, and the Director General of the United States Department at the Foreign Ministry, Carlos Fernandez de Cossio.

Senator Flake has traveled to Cuba on several occasions, and is one of the promoters of legislative proposals in favor of rapprochement and better links between Havana and Washington.

Earlier this day, Foreign Minister Rodriguez had welcomed the visitors and thanked the interest in contributing to the debate in favor of the improvement of relations between the two countries.

During the encounter, they discussed the links between Cuba and the United States and the negative impact of the backward movement that has occurred.

In addition, they talked about current international issues, according to an official note from the Foreign Ministry.
