Cuba and Bolivia to Cooperate in Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy

Vienna, Nov 29 .-Cuba and Bolivia on Wednesday signed an interagency agreement to strengthen, facilitate and expand the opportunities for technical, scientific and academic cooperation, and to develop the peaceful applications of nuclear energy.

The document was penned by the Cuban deputy minister for Science, Technology and Environment, Jose Fidel Santana Nuñez, and the Bolivian deputy minister for High Technologies, Luis Alberto Echazu Alvarado.

The signing ceremony was held in the framework of the Ministerial Conference on Sciences and Nuclear Applications being held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Also present at the ceremony were the IAEA joint general director for Technical Cooperation, Dazhu Yang; the director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Carlos Longoria; heads of section from the IAEA Department of Technical Cooperation and members of Cuba’s permanent mission at the UN Office in Vienna.
