Georgetown, Nov 11 .-The Second Additional Protocol of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Cuba was signed today, diplomatic sources say.

 

CARICOM secretary general, Irwin LaRocque, and Cuban ambassador here and permanent representative to the organization, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, signed the agreement.

The signing took place in the context of the 45th ordinary session of the Council for Economic and Commercial Development (COTED), which will conclude today and where the Ministers of Economy and Commerce of CARICOM are participating.

The tariff preferences of more than 300 products for the CARICOM and dozens of them in case of Cuba are expanded, Gonzalez said.

Also on the list are regulatory issues that contribute to regional integration prior to the 4th CARICOM-Cuba Summit, scheduled for December 8 in Antigua and Barbuda, the Cuban diplomat said.(Prensa Latina)
