Bands from 10 Countries Will Honor Havana World Music Festival

Havana, Fweb 27.- More than 20 new bands from a dozen nations make up the Havana World Music Festival poster, to be held in this capital from 21 to 23 March, its organizers announced.

 

In its sixth edition, the event counts with the participation of groups of the most diverse musical genres with excellent quality although most of them are unknown, said the Cuban singer-songwriter Eme Alfonso, one of the creators of the event.

Cimafunk, Manolito Simonet and Ozomatly from the United States, who will be in charge of closing the days of the festival, stand out as heads of the bill.

Also among those selected for the event, there are Francisco El Hombre (Brazil), Diego Guerrero (Spain), Nomadic Massive (Canada), Mental Abstrato (Brazil), Vox Sambou (Haiti), Korean Men (South Korea), iLBiLLY HiTEC ft. Lengualerta (Germany), Renu (India), Ëda (France), Barry Paquin Roberge (Canada), Monsieur Doumani (Cyprus) and Les Deuxluxes (Canada).

On the Cuban side, the following stand out in the program of the meeting: Muñequitos de Matanzas, Eme Alfonso, Nengón Kiribá, Yissy & Bandancha, Kumar, Leyanis Valdés, R.O.I and Telmary.

During the festival, which extends over four days in this edition, workshops, exhibitions and conferences will be held to generate a space for exchange that involves those interested in the latest trends in music.

Havana World Music is sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music and the National Center of Popular Music, the British Council, the Ministry of Culture, the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Cuban Art Factory (FAC).

Aimed primarily at young audiences, the event began in 2014 and has featured artists and groups such as Fuel Fandango, Sargento García, Los Van Van and the Instituto Mexicano del Sonido.

Each year the challenge is to increase the participation of new artists without repeating those of previous years, while renowned groups prestigious closing the days of this international event. (Prensa Latina)
