Canada Has New Committee to Free the Cuban Five

Canada Has New Committee to Free the Cuban FiveOttawa, Sep 11.- Canadian activist Bill Ryan has initiated a new committee to demand the immediate and unconditional release of the Cuban Five, who have been held in U.S. prisons for the last 15 years for fighting terrorism.

The new group, called Cubacan, is part of the international campaign of solidarity with Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, and Fernando Gonzalez, according to a press release.

The five men were arrested in Miami on September 12, 1998, and following an unfair trial, were given severe prison sentences for their activities to prevent violent actions against Cuba, such as those that have killed more than 3,400 over the last 53 years. (Prensa Latina)
