Camagüey Successfully Increases Milking

Camagüey Successfully Increases MilkingCamagüey, Sept 10 – The Camagüey-based Empresa de Productos Lácteos (Dairy Products Company) showed that it was in position of processing the whole amount of milk which was milked in the period between June and August, to complete 8 million liters more than same period last year.

Production manager of the abovementioned company Heberto Victoria told press that by the end of August, they had sold 50,2 million liters, but this was even lower of what they had expected to sell.

According to Victoria, because the rainy season began too early this year, the sales commitments they planned weren’t too realistic, being quite above what they actually produced, so the agriculture sector will fail in its sale obligations in the period between July and August.

Likewise, the cadre stated that some investments and repairs over the last few years are still being carried out, however what has been done so far has made possible to increase the production of milk-derivative-based products, mainly cheese.

Camagüey provides for itself with milk for the subsidized food basket and for those people who are on a diet because of medical reasons. Besides, the product is distributed in health care facilities, daycare centers and some restaurants and coffee shops.
For all this can be possible, some 82,000 liters are needed, and since June cattle growers in this province have been milking some 300,000 liters of cow milk per day, said Victoria.

He added that the rest of this production is used as a raw material to make cheese, and a great amount of milk curd and even fluid milk is sent to other provinces such as Holguin.  (Radio Cadena Agramonte).
