Raul Castro Congratulates Havana’s Immunoessay Center on its 25th AnniversaryHavana, Cuba, Sep 7.- Army General Raul Castro, president of the councils of State and Ministers, sent a message of congratulation to the workers of Havana’s Center of Immunoessay (CIE), on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of that institution.

The message celebrates the successes of the Center’s work in favor of the health of the people and was made public by Miguel Diaz-Canel, member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party and vice-president of the Council of Ministers, during the main meeting held to mark the date.

According to the National Television Newscast, Raul underlined that the decision of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro to create a center dedicated to diagnose and investigate diseases by way of technology was very good.

Likewise, he highlighted the talent and dedication of the Center’s workers, whom he called to face new challenges for the coming years.

During the celebration, Diaz-Canel pointed out that the CIE should contribute to the consolidation of the Cuban biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, where scientific research should be present as productive force to favor a decisive contribution to the country’s development.

While speaking on behalf of the Center’s workers, its director, Jose Luis Fernandez, said that today they’re working to expand the research and diagnose of several types of cancer in primary health care, breast cancer among them, by way of digital mammography.

They also thanked Fidel and Raul for their confidence in a research center that the Commander in Chief described as a jewel 25 years ago, on the day of its inauguration. (Radio Cadena Agramonte).
