India and Cuba Determined to Deepen Bilateral RelationsHavana, Cuba, Aug 7.- India’s foreign minister S.M. Krishna and Cuba’s deputy foreign minister Rogelio Sierra ratified during a meeting in the capital New Delhi, their countries’ willingness to further expand bilateral relations.

Minister Chrishna and the Cuban government official held a bilateral contact during the first high-level ministerial meeting of India and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

During the talks, the two officials stressed the historic relations between India and Cuba and they favored the strengthening of bilateral links, particularly the two-way commercial flow.

The Indian minister recalled with affection his recent visit to Cuba and the trip to his country by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro back in 1983 during a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement.

During the meeting, Krishna also expressed his country’s interest in increasing relations with CELAC .
Deputy foreign minister Sierra travelled to New Delhi as part of the troika of the Latin American and Caribbean block, whose pro-tempore chair will be occupied by Cuba in early 2013.

The meeting between the Indian and the Cuban government officials was also attended by the foreign ministers of Chile and Venezuela, Alfredo Moreno and Nicolas Maduro. (Radio Cadena Agramonte)
