Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab Resigned

Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab Resigned Damascus, Aug 6.- Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab resigned his post, an official source reported today.

Hijab, 56, who had recently taken office, was a secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party between 2004 and 2008 in Deir Ezzor province, in the country's northeastern area.

From 2008 to 2011, Hijab was a governor in the province of Quneitera and held equal post that last year in Latakia, until he was appointed as the head of the government.

Omar Ibrahim Ghalawanji, so far Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs and Minister of Local Administration, was named for that post.

The new Prime Minister was born in Tartus in 1954. He was a B.A. in Civil Engineering at the University of Tishreen in 1978. (Radio Cadena Agramonte).
