Cuba Ratifies at the UN its Support for AntiterrorismHavana, Cuba, Jun 29.- Pedro Nuñez, Cuba’s permanent representative at the United Nations, ratified in New York his country’s support for the collective efforts carried out by this international organization in its struggle against terrorism. While speaking during the revision of the UN Global Strategy against Terrorism, Nuñez reiterated the island’s willingness to struggle against that scourge and its profound condemnation of all forms of terrorist acts, methods and practices.

Cuba has never been used and will never be used to organize, finance or carry out acts of terrorism against any country, he pointed out, according to a note published by the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site.

In addition, he said that Cuba is among the main three states to ratify the first 12 instruments on international terrorism, and that it’s currently part of 13 world agreements on this matter, in accordance to which it has implemented legal and institutional measures aimed at facing this scourge.

As a UN member state –he declared- Cuba strictly abides by the obligations reflected in resolutions 1373, 1267 and 1540 of the Security Council, and in accordance with them, it periodically offers the United Nations updated information on the measures the island puts into practice against terrorism, explained Nuñez.
