Raul Castro in Antonio Maceo Square for Papal Mass Santiago de Cuba, Mar 26. – President Raul Castro is now at Antonio Maceo Revolution Square of Santiago de Cuba, where Pope Benedict XVI is about to offer a mass.

The square, built as a tribute to Cuban independence hero Antonio Maceo, was properly equipped and adorned for the mass, including a huge altar resembling a papal miter.

Tens of thousands of people have gathered in the square, where the image of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre was placed.

Benedict XVI arrived this afternoon to Cuba for a three-day visit as part of celebrations of the Jubilee Year for the 400th anniversary of the apparition of the image of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre at the Bay of Nipe.(Prensa Latina)
