Cuban Musicians to Perform in France

Cuban Musicians to Perform in France Paris, Mar 21. – Twelve prominent Cuban musicians will join for the first time to give two concerts this weekend at the Center for Arts in Enghien-les-Bains, north of Paris.

"Legends of Cuba" is the name of the group directed by Joaquin Betancourt, composer, arranger and a 2001 Grammy Award winner.

"It is the first time that this group of stars meets. It is a project of Cuban music and specifically of son", said Betancourt at a news conference. The group is composed by Emilio del Monte (kettledrum), former member of the Buena Vista Social Club, Tiburon Morales and Felix Baloy, founders of Son 14 and the Afro Cuba All Star orchestras, respectively, and Teresa Garcia Caturla (Tete), a great voice of son and cha cha cha, among other musicians.

The idea of presenting Cuban traditional music from the 1940s and 1950s came from Dominique Roland, director of the Center for Arts, and was materialized thanks to Musicalia of Cuba and producer Carmen Mayans.(Prensa Latina)
