Nicaraguan Government to Send Aid to Those Affected by Floods

Managua, Jan 21. -The Nicaraguan government is sending a shipment of 55 tons of food and cleaning equipment to the North Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAN) to help more than three thousand families affected by floods last December.The director of the National System for Prevention, Mitigation and Attention to Disasters (SINAPRED), Guillermo Gonzalez, said yesterday that following the directions of President Daniel Ortega on Saturday a total of seven trucks will take the aid to the RAAN.

The destinations mentioned by the official to the El 19 Digital site were Bonanza, Rosita, Siuna, Waspan and Prinzapolka municipalities.

Several of the families affected by the floodings, in addition to facing housing damages, lost their crops, he said.
