Iranian Army Successfully Test-Fires Long Range Missile

Tehran, Jan 2. -Iranian naval forces on Monday successfully fired the Qader missile, a device used in the last of the 10 days of the Velayat 90 maneuvers to demonstrate the country's military power, officials said.According to Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, spokesman for the military exercises which ended on Monday, the naval units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) tested the missile in the vicinity of Chabahar, in the Sistan-Baluchestan province.

According to the state-owned IRNA news agency, the Qader is a missile with self-contained and ultra-advanced systems, long-range shore-to-sea, and significantly improved in terms of radar, satellite, accuracy, range and navigation.

The missile launch was described as a Persian scientific achievement in order to prove the military power of the navy on the final day of the Velayat 90 exercises.

In a meeting held on December 31, 2011, along with ambassadors and other diplomatic Iranian officials working abroad, Saeed Jalili, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, said the influence of Israel and the United States in the Middle East is increasingly diminishing in the region and in Iran itself.
