Thousands of Venezuelan Families Benefited with Housing

Caracas, Dec 27. -Venezuelan Minister of Housing and Habitat Ricardo Molina said on Tuesday that the government granted houses this year to more than 7,500 families affected by rains.According to Molina, to date there are still about 22,000 families in shelters provided by the administration, which are attended by a housing committee as a link between them and the government.

Molina said that every one of those people know about their future home and even how the building program works.

He also stressed that prior to the construction of these homes, it is necessary to do an evaluation of land for further construction, which is linked to socio-productive projects that include schools, recreational and sporting centers and malls, among other facilities.

According to Molina, those families with greater needs have been prioritized, because of being larger or having a member with health problems or disabilities.

Hugo Chavez announced on December 24 that to date 125,644 homes were built and it is expected that another 15,000 will be completed this week, bringing the total to 140,500 in 2011, which represents 91.5 percent of what was promised at the launch of the Mission Housing Venezuela. (Prensa Latina)
