United Nations, Nov 22. -After a first failed attempt at the UN Council of Security, different powers of Western Europe try to add the United Nations to the intense pressures on the Syrian Government. The maneuver passes off through the Human Rights Committee of the General Assembly promoted by France, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The initiative is a draft resolution backed by some Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Morocco, that accuses Syrian authorities of systematically violating human rights.
The proposal must be voted on at the committee on Tuesday and was described as a diplomatic war declaration by Syrian Ambassador to the UN Bashar Jaafari.
Damascus' representative underlined that the draft resolution was presented amid a political and media war declared against Syria and affects the independence of this country. (Prensa Latina)
