Syria Protects Embassies in Damascus; AL Issues Memo

Damascus, Nov 17. -The Ministry of the Interior ordered tighter security around embassies and announced that legal action will be taken against those that attack them, while the Government assesses the result of a meeting of Arab foreign ministers held in Morocco.

A note made public by the main state-owned news media underlined that Syria is still committed to fulfill the international agreements and conventions on diplomatic relations stipulating to guarantee the protection of foreign missions and buildings.

The Government's clarification followed the demonstrations of millions of Syrians supporting President Bashar Al-Assad, protesting the treason of Arab countries and attacking the embassies of the governments that head the media and political campaign against Syria.

The offices of Qatar, the country that visibly heads the anti-Syria crusade of the Arab League (AL), of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Morocco and France have been attacked with eggs and stones.

On the other hand, government circles referred to Tuesday night's announcement in Rabat of the AL foreign ministers noting that a memo would be issued stipulating that a delegation of observers would be sent to Syria.

After the signing of that protocol within no more than three days, the AL will decide whether to send the delegation or not. The observers will be free to move throughout the country and verify reality in the field, underlined the government of Al-Assad.

On Wednesday, the figure of those pardoned increased to 1,180 and the Ministry of Information highlighted that dozens of foreign reporters were authorized to enter the country. (Prensa Latina)
