Paraguayan FM to visit Quito to Ratify UNASUR Treaty

Quito, Sep 15. -The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of Paraguay, Jorge Lara Castro, will deposited this Thursday the instrument of ratification of his country to the Treaty establishing the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR)in the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister.An official statement states that Paraguay has thus become the eleventh country to join the regional mechanism, from which this year will assume the Presidency Pro Tempore.

Colombia, the only country missing to fulfill this requirement, has already approved the appropriate legislative procedures, pending only the delivery of the Deposit of Ratification of the Treaty, guarded by the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.

Under Secretary for Latin American and the Caribbean Issues of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry, Jose Maria Borja, highlighted the progress of bilateral relations with Paraguay in the political, economic, cultural, tourism, migration and livestock spheres.

Borja also said that the Paraguayan government is interested in knowing the Manuela Espejo Solidarity Mission, which aims to undertake prevention and care programs for people with disabilities. (Prensa Latina)
