Unasur to Discuss Economic Crisis and Creation of Electoral Body Buenos Aires, Aug 23. – The foreign ministers of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) on Wednesday will discuss how to address the current international economic crisis and the creation of an electoral body within the bloc. The meeting of foreign ministers of UNASUR will be held in the framework of the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on Latin America and East Asia (Focalae), the Argentine Foreign Ministry announced.

Participants in the meeting will evaluate the joint policy of the bloc to confront the global economic crisis.

With regard to the adoption of mechanisms to deepen the regional union, the ministers will review the problems of integration among the 12 countries of the Union, and the possibility of creating an electoral body within the organization.

The results of these evaluations will be presented at the Fourth Summit Meeting of Presidents of UNASUR, scheduled for October 29 in Asuncion, in the framework of the Ibero-American Summit to be held there.(Prensa Latina)
