New Hemodialysis Ward in Central Cuban Province Havana, Aug 16. – More than 130 patients with chronic kidney failure are now being treated at a modern hemodialysis ward at the Arnaldo Milian Castro Hospital in the central province of Villa Clara.The new ward has 21 artificial kidneys and all of the necessary comforts to improve the patientsâ�Ö quality of life, stated Dr. Jorge Lopez, head of the Nephrology Department at the hospital.

At a cost of more than one million Cuban pesos and nearly 36,000 USD, the hemodialysis ward includes a water treatment plant.

The new ward helps bring Villa Clara part of the country's progress in using advanced technology in kidney disease treatments, mainly caused by diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure, Lopez states.(Prensa Latina)
