Venezuela and Cuba Open Basketball Quadrangular Tournament

Caracas, Aug 5. – The teams of Venezuela and Cuba will open a four-nation basketball tournament to be held in the Venezuelan northwestern state of Vargas. Panama and Brazil are the other teams to take part in the tournament which will serve as a physical and technical reinforcement to all the teams for the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from August 30 to September 1st.

The Pre-Olympic Tournament will supply the tickets to the 2012 World Championship in London, UK.

In this World Championship, Venezuela will compete in Group A together with Brazil, Canada, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

The Venezuelan team is concentrated under the guidance of US veteran head coach Eric Musselman and defeated Japan in two friendly matches last week.(Prensa Latina)
