Bolivia Boots Electricity Generating CapacityLa Paz, Jun 21. -The Bolivian state electricity company on Tuesday announced the installation of five new power stations to add 160 megawatts(MW) to the national grid.

This initiative is part of a national power supply program to which the government has allocated 173.3 million USD.

According to Hydrocarbons Minister Jose Luis Gutierrez, two plants with a generating capacity of 80 MW will be installed in Cochabamba.

Also, two plants will be installed in La Paz with 20 MW; in Trinidad, with 20 MW; and in Tarija, with 40 MW.

Electricity demand has risen to approximately 1080 MW and the effective capacity is 1250 MW.

President Evo Morales is promoting new electricity generation plans to meet local demand and to export electricity to neighboring countries. (Prensa Latina)
