LatAm Youth to Meet in CubaHavana, Jun 4. -The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) will hold a regional meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana on June 12, prior to its General Assembly in Portugal in November.

The gathering in Havana will coincide with the 3rd International Youth Meeting of Solidarity with the Cuban Five, the antiterrorist fighters unfairly held in U.S. prisons, a member of the National Bureau of the Young Communist League (UJC), Leira Sanchez, told Prensa Latina.

Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five, were detained on September 12, 1998 while monitoring anti-Cuban actions of Florida-based terrorist groups.

She said that the gathering in Havana, expected to be attended by the leader of WFDY, Brazilian Tiago Vieira, will highlight efforts to prevent wars worldwide and demand nuclear disarmament.
