Paraguay: Bicentenary Book Fair Begins

Paraguay: Bicentenary Book Fair BeginsAsuncion, May 20. -More that 50 Paraguayan book stores and publishing houses are participating in the Bicentenary Book Fair, which opened Thursday.

The fair is organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Books, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Secretariat for Culture, the Bicentenary Commission, the city of Asuncion and the Central Bank.

The fairâ�Ös slogan is "Reading will Make Us Free," and it features an extensive program of activities, with the participation of national and international writers.

Book launches, theater, and music and dance presentations along with a publishers' meeting are all part of the agenda.

Last Sunday and Saturday, Paraguay celebrated its Independence Bicentennial with various activities involving 1.5 million people, according to Asuncion authorities. (Prensa Latina)
