Delegates from Dozens of Countries in Cuba for May Day

Havana, Apr 26. -More than 1,000 union leaders and social and solidarity activists are expected at May Day celebrations in Cuba to demonstrate their friendship.

Supporters are also joining in celebrations of the 50th anniversaries of the military victory of Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs) and the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution.

Guests to Workersâ�Ö Day celebrations include the 6th International May Day Brigade, comprised of 200 people from 27 countries, according to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).

Their program includes a meeting with relatives of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States since 1998.

Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, universally known as the Cuban Five, are currently serving harsh sentences for informing on terrorist plans against Cuba by anti-Cuban groups in that northern country.
