Cuban Product Heberprot-P Awarded Best Young InventorGeneva, Apr 11. -The Cuban biomedicine Heberprot-P, for treating diabetic foot, was granted the World Intellectual Property Organization Award for Best Young Inventor.

Heberprot-P, developed by the Cuban Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center, offers a solution for a condition considered by many as a challenge for the scientific world. The medicine also was awarded with the WIPO Gold Medal in March.

The recent award was given during the 39th edition of the International Inventions Fair which concluded on Sunday in this capital and which was attended by representatives of 45 nations with over 1,000 innovations.

Heberprot-P is a new and unique medicine based on recombinant human growth factor for treating patients with diabetic foot ulcers.

The product, already used in over 20,000 patients in Cuba and other nations of the world, and with patents in 15 countries, speeds up the healing deep and serious diabetic foot ulcers and decreases the risk of amputation. (Prensa Latina)
