Dominican Press Highlights Boxing Training in CubaSanto Domingo, Mar 11. -Dominican press highlighted the training of boxers in Cuba aimed at achieving a good position in the Pan American Games, scheduled for Guadalajara, Mexico, in October.

Dominicans are pinning their hopes on Argenis Nunez, 75 kilograms, with daily Hoy recalling that he was the first who qualified for the Beijing Olympics.

The Dominican athletes will take part in a qualifier tournament in Cumana, Venezuela, scheduled for March 23, when Latin American boxers will vie for over 30 places for the Pan American Games.

The team is head coached by Cuban Pedro Mexico and relies on Nunez and Roberto Navarro, 57 kilograms, the latter the winner of the continental tournament in Mexico 2010.

The Guadalajara games will have 104 contenders, 94 of them from three qualifiers: the first in Cumana, the second in Quito, Ecuador, in April 30-May 6, and the third at a venue yet to be set in June, with the Dominican Republic not ruled out.
