Cuban Judokas Head for Paris Grand Slam Havana, Feb 2. – The Cuban men´s judo team will compete in the Paris Grand Slam Feb. 5-6, coach Justo Noda confirmed on Wednesday to Granma newspaper.

World medalists Oscar Braison (more than 100 kg) and Oreidis Despaigne (100) are leading the team. The other members are Antonio Betancourt (60), Ronald Girones (73), Osmay Cruz (81), Asley Gonzalez (90) and Jose Alexis Armenteros (100).

The Paris competition is a must for those who want to know how judo is doing internationally, Noda said, referring to the quality of the tournament, one of the most competitive in world, along with Tokyo.

The Cuban women´s judo team will also be at the Palais Omnisports de París-Bercy, which won five gold medals and two silvers at the Arlon Open in Belgium on Sunday.

This Saturday´s competition includes matches in the women´s 48, 52, 57 and 63 kg categories, and in the men´s 60, 66 and 73 kg categories, and in the remaining seven divisions on Sunday.(Prensa Latina)
