Chavez Thanks International SolidarityCaracas, Dec 9. -Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez thanked sister nations and leaders for the solidarity shown in the difficult moment his country is going through due to heavy rains that have triggered flash floodings and landslides.

Chavez talked over the phone with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who told him about the imminent sending of an important aid to help cope with the devastating effects of rainfall, the Foreign Ministry said in a release.

Meanwhile, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa told Chavez his people have gathered numerous basic items that will be sent soon, the text adds.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega wrote a letter of support for the Venezuelan people, and added some aid will be sent in coming hours to materialize the solidarity, the release says.

On the other hand, Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko and Chavez agreed to talk today, when Lukashenko will announce the sending of a considerable humanitarian aid.

The Venezuelan president publicly thanked the concrete signs of the solidarity Venezuelans receive daily from different countries and leaders worldwide, which also include Cuba, Bolivia, and Colombia, the ministry stressed. (Prensa Latina)
