Cuba Welcomes Jamaica''s Trade InitiativeHavana, Dec 6. -Cuba has welcomed the decision of Jamaica to endorse the implementation of duty free access for specific goods from Cuba into the Jamaican market, and seasonal duties on other products.

Kingston's trade initiative was announced by Dary Vaz, minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, after a Cabinet meeting at Jamaica House.

The endorsement is a move towards implementing the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement between CARICOM and Cuba that was signed in 2000.

The Cabinet also gave instructions for amendments to be drafted to the Customs Act so that the agreement can be fully implemented. (Prensa Latina)
