Raul Castro Offers Condolences for Kirchner’s Death

Havana, Oct 29. -Cuban President Raul Castro sent a message of condolence to Argentina''s Cristina Fernandez for the death of her husband, former Argentine President Nestor Kirchner.

Raul Castro offered his sincere condolences to President Fernandez on behalf of the Cuban government and people, and extended them to her family and the Argentine people, it was reported on Cuba's nightly TV news program.

Kirchner died on Wednesday of a heart attack at the Jose Formenti Hospital in El Calafate, Patagonia, 2,680 km (1.7 miles) south of Buenos Aires.

Kirchner, who was general secretary of the Union of South American Nations, had undergone emergency carotid artery surgery in February, and then a successful coronary angioplasty in September for a clogged artery. (Prensa Latina)
