Cuba: Work Against Dengue MosquitoHavana, Oct 18. -Members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the largest mass organization in Cuba, yesterday carried out sanitary works to close the X National Operation Sin Tregua (relentlessly) against the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The initiative aims to mobilize the population towards the so-called family autofocal treatment, considered of vital importance in the battle to eradicate the dengue vector, afatal disease in its hemorrhagic form.

According to Ileana Urrusuno, from the national secretariat of the CDR, there are 10 provinces and 26 municipalities in Cuba with high levels of the presence of that mosquito.

Santiago de Cuba and Camaguey in the east, and Havana city and Habana in the west, are the territories with the highest rates of infestation of Aedes aegypti.

In the campaign participate specialists and workers from various institutions, and in particular the Ministry of Public Health, and there is a strong prevention movement. (Prensa Latina)
