Caribbean Welfare Day Celebrated

Rosseau, Sep 11. -The governments of the Caribbean are carrying out activities for Caribbean Welfare Day, annually celebrated on the 2nd Saturday of September to promote healthy life styles and so reduce the high incidence of non-transmissible diseases.

The whole month, member countries and associates of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will keep posts on the street to sensitize people about cancer, diabetes and other problems.

The personnel will check blood pressure, body weight, sugar levels and cholesterol of all those people who have problems, and provide information to control them.

Gastronomic fairs will dedicate spaces, there will be educational talks and sports activities, and other activities for stopping the smoking habit will be held. (Prensa Latina)
