Int'l Nanotechnology Seminar Ends in CubaHavana, Sep 10. -The 3rd International Seminar on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology concluded in this capital, with a focus on biotechnology, medicine and computational modeling.

Master lectures on vaccines composed by nanoparticles, nanotoxicity, and nanocover for medical applications, as well as nanomaterials, were the subjects covered by renowned national and foreign experts attending the forum, opened on Tuesday at the Havana's Conference Center.

A dozen posters are also part of the last day of the event, characterized by its high scientific value and the presence of Nobel laureates in Physics Zhores Alfiorov (2000), and David Gross (2004), who also visited Cuban research centers on Wednesday.

Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, scientific advisor to the Council of State and president of the forum's organizing committee, stated at the event's opening that the Cuban government bet on nanotechnology as a transcendent area for being competitive and reach a sustainable future development based on intellectual productions.

To do that, the country has developed an extensive national program, whose objectives is to improve basic and applied research, increase knowledge and professional abilities, and establish technological platforms. (Prensa Latina)
