World Trafficking in Humans Expands United Nations, Sep 1. -Cuba denounced at the United Nations that worldwide trafficking in humans is increasing despite international efforts to stop it.

In welcoming the Global Plan of Action Against Trafficking in Persons, Cuban ambassador to the UN Pedro Núñez Mosquera said he hoped the new mechanism would help fight that crime and bolster international cooperation based on respect for national soverignty, independence and territorial integrity.

It also must become a core instrument to help rid certain states of their unacceptable, discriminatory, biased, selective and politically slanted practices.

Strengthening multilateralism is the best way to fight all transborder crimes, the Cuban diplomat said.

Ambassador Núñez Mosquera noted that Cuba has a solid and proficient body of laws and means of enforcement to fight human trafficking and voiced his country's disposition to strengthen cooperation on the matter with the UN and every willing country. (Prensa Latina)
