The Cuban Group  "Maraguán" Praised for its Performances in Spain and PortugalCAMAGUEY, Cuba, Aug 18. – The Maraguan Artistic Group, from eastern Camaguey province, was praised by way of letters sent to the island’s Culture Minister, for its successful participation in folk events held in Spain and Portugal.

The letters sent to Minister Abel Prieto are signed by the directors of the most recent editions of the International Festival of the Peoples of the World (Caceres, Spain) and the International Festival of Moncoa (Portugal), according to information provided by the group’s management.

The texts highlight elements like discipline, professionalism, human touch and the warm reception of the public.

Headed by engineer and choreographer Fernando Medrano, the group is now on its 15th visit to Europe, and will participate in the Spanish Orense Festival until August 19.

During its tour, of some two months until September, the troupe will attend eight events distributed in the two aforementioned countries according to plans, and will also perform in Madrid, the Spanish capital.

Part of the Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz University of Camagüey, Maraguan will stage five works during its tour, among them Cubanisimo and Por los campos de mi Cuba.

Founded in 1981 and mostly made up by students from that educational center, Maraguan is the most prize-winning group among the ones participating in competitions of the Federation of University Students for amateur artists.(acn)
