Cuban Oil Industry is Performing Well says MinisterHavana, Cuba, Jul 29.- Cuban Minister of the Basic Industry Yadira Garcia Vera said yesterday that Cuban oil industry performed well in terms of production in the first six months of the current year.

Garcia Vera spoke to the deputies of the Committee on Energy and Environment of the Cuban Parliament on the efficient use of resources and human capital are the main weapons that that industry has today.

She explained that they are working in conjunction with other entities and agencies to ensure the protection and care of the environment.

Raúl Pérez de Prado, director of the CUPET oil enterprise, said that they are working in exploration, drilling and exploitation of new wells, with technologies used in developed countries.

Perez de Prado highlighted that they are that paving the way for making better use of domestic products, which used to be wasted, based on the use of secondary recovery techniques.

The use of science and technology is fundamental to the industry, as well as the preparation of the staff assuming this task, given the high complexity and responsibility that the men have in the management of technology, he said.

Also, the committee discussed about the progress of the integrated management program for the South Coast Strip in eastern Cuba and assessed the compliance with the National Environmental Strategy.(ACN)
