July 26th Festivities: a Reason for Being Happy and Proud

July 26th Festivities: a Reason for Being Happy and ProudCamagüey, Cuba July 26.- Speaking to over 90,000 people, first secretary of Cuba's Communist Party (PCC) in Villa Clara Julio Ramiro Lima Corzo stated that celebrating National Rebellion Day in the place that houses the remains of Che Guevara and his fellow combatants, and knowing about Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro's health recovery is a good reason to be happy and proud.

The provincial communist leader gave an overview about the status of his territory before the Revolution, contrasting with the current panorama, and he mentioned achievements such as the Mother-Child Program in Villa Clara, which has resulted in the lowest infant mortality rate in Cuba.

Lima Corzo also referred to the capacity of the people in Villa Clara to withstand the hardest periods of our history, fully committed with the ideals that drove Fidel Castro to attack the Moncada barracks, and committed with Che and his fellow combatants, before whom the ceremony took place.

Today we can say that Villa Clara has been faithful to Che’s legacy -noted the cadre- though there are still ginormous potentialities in the agriculture, and we cannot feel entirely satisfied while there is a single hectare of land uncultivated, he highlighted.

In spite of achievements in all fields, we must work hard so that our Revolution can not be toppled. Discipline should be better, rationality and efficiency should be better, and noted that this will be our permanent tribute to Abel and Haydée and the many other youth that from this province went to Santiago de Cuba to attack Batista’s military bulwark.

Besides, Lima Corzo emphasized that with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) we are witnessing the rebirth of Latin America and the Caribbean, where the peoples are struggling for their independence, sovereignty and a better future.

From this combat trench, we can say that: Yes, we can!

The Cuban central province of Villa Clara won this year’s venue of the national rally marking the National Rebellion Day, for the achievements reached in diverse fields of the socio-political and economy life. (Esther Borges Moya / Radio Cadena Agramonte).
