Cuba Starts Preparing World Youth Festival

Beijing, Jun 23. -Cuba will ratify its full support for the XVII World Festival of Youth and Students in an upcoming preparatory meeting for the festival in Democratic Korea, members of the Cuban delegation to the meeting said on Wednesday. That is the message we want to bring to Pyongyang, told to Prensa Latina Yoel Del Sol Acosta, from Department of International Relations of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), who recalled that the support includes the experiences of his country as a participant in those forums and organizer of its editions of 1978 and 1997.

The delegation is also made up of president of the Jose Marti Pioneers Organization and member of the National Bureau of the UJC Yamile Ramos, and his counterpart from the University Student Federation (FEU) Gladys Gutierrez. The delegation will visit Beijing, where it will be received by the Chinese delegation.

Del Sol explained that the purpose of this tour, which began in Vietnam, is to strengthen relations with host organizations and young Cubans studying in Vietnam and China to learn about their work and concerns and inform them about the Festival to be held in South Africa in December.

The meeting in North Korean will be held from Thursday to July 1, attended by delegates from other nations in the America, Europe, Africa and Asia and regional groupings such as the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Organization of Students , represented by the FEU president.
