Cuban Judge Receives Award

Cuban Judge Receives AwardHavana, Jun 7. -The president of the Cuban Society of Civil Law and Family of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba (UNJC), Olga Mesa, will be awarded with the national prize of law previously granted to deceased personalities.

The senior professor and consultant of Havana University will receive National Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Award for Law; so named since this patriot was a lawyer and sparked the struggles against Spanish colonialism in 1868.

The award was instituted by the UNJC in 2005 and, to date, was granted post mortem to Miguel D Estefano, Olga Miranda and Julio Fernández Bulté, refered the National News Agency.

It is awarded to the jurist in recognition of her professionalism, ethical values and contribution to the development of law in the country through this practice, teaching and research. (Prensa Latina)
