ALBA Strengthens Sovereignty, Socialism Caracas, Apr 20  . -The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) agreed on Tuesday in Venezuela to strengthen integration and sovereignty for the construction of the socialism.

As a culmination of the Ninth Summit of the bloc, founded in 2004 and held in this capital, the heads of State and Government from Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela ratified those objectives through a document entitled "Manifesto Strengthening the New Independence of Caracas."

According to the forum's statement, ALBA efforts are moved by the independence struggles started 200 years ago, and the will and legation of the heroes.

Participants in the event also expressed the decision of promoting the defense of human rights, environment, and the construction of an independent, developed and socialist economic base with Sucre (instrument of payment), grand-national companies, and the Bank of ALBA, among other initiatives.

The document also reflects the will of constituting the ALBA countries, as a space of equality, social welfare, and overcoming poverty.

The joint declaration urges to concrete political actions aimed at denouncing hypocrisy and double standard showed in the international relations by the United States and some European nations.

They also stressed the decision of creating the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, supporting Venezuela as a venue in 2011 of a summit to putting it into practice.(Prensa Latina)
